Japanese Manga Series

Manga are funny books made in Japan utilizing their particular way of drawing characters. Due to its popularity in Japan, almost everyone read it. Manga gets its name by being often confused with those bit of speech bubbles you can see in western comics like Asterix or Tintin, called “Manga” as well (though they are not representative for this comic).

After becoming popular worldwide, some comic magazines began to release their versions based on Japanese manga series. Those are called “Manga Magazines” as well. For example, there is Weekly Shōnen Jump en Monthly Shonen Magazine which publishes different kinds of mangas every week/monthly issue. Usually, these comics are black&white, but sometimes they have colored pages too.

Despite growing popularity, many people remain unaware of the series’ extensive and deeply complex lore, which has roots in Japanese mythology and culture.

Hunter x Hunter (Yoshihiro Togashi)

The manga Hunter x Hunter is the story of Gon, a young boy who left his home and became a professional hunter to find his father. It’s also about Killua Zoldyck, whose family was imprisoned for committing crimes against the state. Kurapika lost his clan and friends to Nen-using bandits, Leorio, who dreams of earning tons of money by becoming a doctor and many others throughout their journey together while attending the most prestigious institution on proper training of hunters.

 1999 – 2014 Naruto(Masashi Kishimoto)

Naruto is an orphaned boy (Uzumaki Naruto) who wishes to become Hokage, the ninja in his village. As the Manga progresses, the story focuses on Naruto’s teammate and closest friend (Sasuke Uchiha).

The most widely known character from Naruto Shippuden would have to be none other than Sasuke Uchiha due to his loner nature and lack of appearance outside of his flashback scenes. To this day, fans still split on what they think about him since he left with Orochimaru early in part 1. Part 2 brought a pretty big redemption arc for him, but it never quite reached that same level of tension from part 1.
